For Oregon seniors who are interested in a Medicare supplement plan that is practical and comprehensive, yet affordable, Medigap Plan C may be a perfect solution. Offering you more than just basic protection, Plan C covers all of your Part A and Part B copays, coinsurance and deductibles. It covers the 365-day extension of inpatient hospital care after the expiration of Part A benefits as well as the fees associated with hospice care, foreign travel emergency care and skilled nursing care. It also covers the first three pints of bloodwork each year.

Lowest Rates Offered by Oregon Carriers of Medigap Plan C

Plan C is offered by a number of insurance companies in Oregon. Insurers typically adjust rates based on gender, age, smoking preference and by county or zip code. Below you will find the lowest available Plan C rates for men and women offered by the Oregon insurers who carry the policy. Your rates may vary.

Two insurance companies offer Plan C at the same rate for men and women. UnitedHealthcare offers Plan C to both men and women for a monthly premium that starts at $111.30, while Regence BlueShield offers Plan C for as little as $143 to both men and women. The remaining insurers offer higher prices for males than for females. Plan C rates from Assured Life and Woodmen of the World open at $124.79 per month for men and $108.57 for women. Humana delivers Plan C for as low as $134.56 per month to men and $134.22 to women. Sentinel Life offers Plan C for a monthly premium starting at $126.50 for men and $110 for women, while Sterling Investors' monthly rates start at $115.08 for men and $100.08 for women.

For men and women who use tobacco, Plan C rates will be anywhere from 10 to 25 percent higher than non-smoking rates. If you live outside the cheapest counties and zip codes in Oregon and your insurer adjusts rates by locality, you will pay a few dollars more each month than those lower-priced regions.

Other Versions of Medicare Supplement Plan C in Oregon

Select Plan C is another form of Plan C with the exact same coverage, but it requires beneficiaries to choose health providers from within a network. Currently only UnitedHealthcare offers Select Plan C with rates starting at $90.65 for men and women. Monthly premiums will be 10 percent higher for seniors who smoke.

Plan C is affordable and offers a considerable amount of coverage for Oregon residents who choose the plan to fill the gaps in their Medicare coverage. Although it is not as comprehensive as popular Plan F, Plan C covers many of the major expenses that original Medicare does not, particularly the Part A and Part B deductibles. If you are looking for a solid Medigap plan that will take care of your needs without putting too much pressure on your finances, consider Medicare Supplement Plan C.
