Video: Medicare and Pre-Existing Conditions

Video Transcript

Deborah Norville: You know, one of the things that Sister Kathleen and many people watching this program have to deal with are pre-existing conditions. We’ve heard so much about it during the talk about the health care revitalization that’s been discussed in Congress. What does she need to be mindful of, Hilary, because of the fact that she has—as she said—a very complicated and very obvious pre-existing condition?

Hilary Dalin: We can reassure Sister Kathleen that there will be no limitations on her coverage, nor will she be barred from coverage by original Medicare or by a Medicare Advantage plan or, for that matter, by a Part D drug plan as long as she signs up for it right away. So—and that’s also true for if she needed a Medicare supplement policy. As long as she signs up for it right away when she’s first eligible for Medicare, she has nothing to worry about.

Announcer: Making Medicare Work for You is brought to you by UnitedHealthcare.
